Pakistan and Brazil have agreed to give further impetus to promoting greater interaction and co-operation in the political, commercial, economic and defence fields. Foreign Minister of Brazil Celso Amorim, who visited Pakistan from September 9 to 11 and led the Brazilian delegation to the G-20 ministerial meeting, said.
During his talks with his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid M. Kasuri, he also discussed regional and international situation.
He also called on Prime Minster Shaukat Aziz and conveyed greetings and good wishes of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and also delivered a special letter from the President of Brazil.
Kasuri briefed the Brazilian foreign minister on the Pakistan-India peace process and the situation in Afghanistan.
The foreign minister stressed that both the countries should give importance to regular consultations between the two foreign ministries, as envisages in the Memorandum of Understanding signed during President Musharraf's visit to Brazil.
Celso Amorim stated that the Brazilian government was keen to broaden and deepen bilateral co-operation with Pakistan.
The Brazilian foreign minister also commended efforts of Pakistan in contributing to the stabilisation and reconstruction in Afghanistan.
The two sides decided that the next round of periodic consultations between the two foreign minister will be held in Brasilia.
