US coffee futures were called to open with 0.50-cent losses Tuesday based on market orders lined up as of 8:42 am EDT (1242 GMT) and sliding prices in the London coffee market, New York floor sources said.
London robust futures fell to their lowest level in more than six months on fund and speculative selling, with benchmark November down $25 at $916 a tonne and September coffee $13 lower at $907.
In New York, US coffee futures fell sharply into the close on Monday, tumbling to lows not seen since late November 2004 as players sold in sympathy with declines in other commodities and a lack of upbeat coffee news to add support, traders said.
