Syed Ahmed Mujtaba Gilani, younger brother of former NA speaker Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has refused to contest for Nazim slot from Shershah Town while the combined opposition had nominated him, and had to replaced him at the last moment with Zahid Aziz Butt, who had earlier lost in the Union Council elections.
Similarly, the opposition candidate for the slot of City Nazim Malik Amer Dogar has also declined to contest at the eleventh hour offering his younger brother Malik Imran Dogar for the office, as he did not want to lose the seat of UC Nazim where he has been elected unopposed.
The Election Commission has issued the final list of 380 candidates for the slot of City and District Nazims of Multan, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh, Lodhran, Khanewal and Towns of Shershah, Shah Rukne Alam, Bosan and Mumtazabad.
Mian Faisal Mukhtar, Malik Imran Dogar, and Latif Ansar Lajpal have filed candidatures for Multan City Nazim.
Rai Asif Ali of PML, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi's younger brother Mureed Hussain Qureshi and Nasir Qureshi for Nazim of Shah Rukn-e-Alam Town; Zahid Aziz Butt, Shahid Mukhtar Lodhi (PML-N) Makhdoom Abbas Akbar Mohni Shah for Nazim of Shershah Town; Son-in law of acting PML-N chief Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and spouse of MNA Maimoona Hashmi Zahid Bahar Hashmi, Shaikh Muhammad Jamil for Mumtazabad Town Nazim, Federal Minister Sikandar Hayat Bosan's younger brother Shaukat Hayat Bosan will face combined opposition's nominee Khurshid Ahmed Kalroo in Bosan Town for Nazim slot.
Whereas in Jalalpur Pirwala and Shujabad Towns PML candidates would face opponents belonging to their own party as opposition has failed to nominate anyone in these towns.
