"OK, so he is a RAW agent."
"Surbajeet?"
"Yes, but I believe the punishment is too much, especially considering that we are in the process of negotiating with the Indians and..."
"But you must not spy."
"Indeed and is there anyone who does not spy if their interest is involved. I mean if we catch a CIA operative in Pakistan then are we going to give the sort of punishment we are contemplating giving to this Sikh?"
"Nope, because we can convince ourselves that the CIA was working for us and not against us."
"Cool. Spies of another country working for us!"
"Anyway I think we should let him go, make a big case of what he was trying to do here, you know terrorism and stuff and then let him go. Makes us look good."
"Big M has gone off to New York again. Maybe Bush will tell him to do just that."
"Maybe. But I do believe that the punishment need not fit the crime always especially if the punishment is to be meted out to a non-citizen that you are going to deport."
"Well, we are a nation of over-reactors. Remember we killed Bhutto."
"That was because Bhutto had threatened Zia by saying that he would return to power and then make sure Zia got his just punishment."
"Ah yes, that's one story doing the rounds. But I sometimes wonder what would have happened if more recent events had happened before Bhutto's murder."
"Whatever do you mean?"
"Well, if Big M had gotten rid of Nawaz Sharif through exile first then wouldn't Zia have been tempted to do the same."
"I doubt it. Bhutto was a much bigger political figure than Nawaz Sharif - we all know that! Bhutto would have canvassed abroad more successfully and would have returned to power with a vengeance and I am saying this and I am not a Jiyala."
"Yep, the guy was extremely smart."
"Indeed."
"So what do you think we will do to Surbajeet?"
"I hope we don't kill him. Wouldn't it be better to take revenge by sending our own operatives there...?"
"Revenge in kind. Interesting thought!"
