Pakistan and India are expected to agree next month to restart a ferry service that was broken off 30 years ago, Port and Shipping Minister Babar Khan Ghouri said on Friday.
He told AFP that he would go to India in October to thrash out details of the service, and added that he expected to sign a formal agreement on ferry resumption during his visit.
The service between Karachi and Mumbai would start "as soon as we sign the protocol," Ghouri said. Pakistan has already granted a licence to 'Land and Ocean Ferry Service Company' to operate the route, he added.
The resumption of the service would be another step towards normalising ties between the South Asian rivals.
