Pakistan Muslim League-N has accused President General Pervez Musharraf of deviating from the country's decade-old stance by shaking hand and formally meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon during the United Nations Generally Assembly Summit in New York.
At a press conference here on Sunday, party's Information Secretary Siddiqul Farooq said that due to the President's policy to interact with Israeli leaders, Pakistan has lost its real position in the Muslim world.
He pointed out that due to Musharraf's handshake with Ariel Sharon in New York, the Indian Prime Minister not only refused to talk on Kashmir but also repeated the accusations that Pakistan was involved in terrorism in occupied Kashmir.
The PML-N information secretary said that President's motive on Israel discharged the freedom seekers in Palestine.
Sadiqqul Farooq also expressed his dismay over the Musharraf's statement regarding rape victims in Pakistan, saying that it hurt the sentiments of justice seeker women in the country.
He said that the PML is not against the relations with Israel, but it only demands that the Jewish State should at least act on UN resolution that calls for vacating all occupied territories including West Bank and Al-Quds with unrestricted return to over 10 million Palestinians to their homes and called for ties till formation of independent Palestine state. He also challenged President's statement regarding robust national economy and said that the so-called prosperity has reached only at the homes of few rich, while the poor cannot light even their stoves.
He pointed out that number of the unemployed has risen by 2.5 million while about 80 million people are forced to live below the poverty line and cannot even get two square meals a day.
He said on one hand government was talking about breaking the begging bowl, but on the other foreign debt has increased by $ 5 billion dollars.
