Ukraine, which plans to increase wheat exports to about five million tonnes in 2005/06, boosted seaport wheat shipments by 80 percent in the September 1-10 period to 163,300 tonnes, analysts said on Monday.
Ukraine exported 91,000 tonnes of wheat through its seaports in the August 1-10 period and a total of 4.3 million tonnes in the 2004/05 (July-June) season.
The country exported 568,100 tonnes of wheat in August compared with 285,300 in July. ProAgro agriculture consultancy said in a statement that Ukraine exported 37,000 tonnes of wheat to Kenya and 36,500 to Peru, two new destinations. It also exported 27,500 tonnes to Tunisia, 23,200 to Israel and 10,300 to Sudan. Analysts said and additional 111,000 tonnes of wheat would be exported in the coming days.
Last week analysts said Ukraine boosted barley seaport shipments by 39 percent to 150,000 tonnes in the first 10 days of September from 108,000 in the same period in August. Ukraine increased barley exports to 543,300 tonnes in August from 46,300 a month earlier.
Analysts have said Ukraine is likely to export about four million tonnes of the commodity in 2005/06 compared with a record 4.3 million last season.
