All Pakistan Trade Unions Federation (APTUF) has demanded of the government to fix Rs 7000 per month as minimum wage of a worker. A resolution to this effect was adopted at the "National Labour Conference" held here on Tuesday.
The moot demanded of the government to restore trade union activities in public sector organisations, withdraw anti-labour amendments in Industrial Relations Ordinance 2000 and abandon privatisation policy.
The moot also demanded of the government to stop action against the workers of various private and public sector organisations. It opined that the industrialists who are violating labour laws must be punished.
Earlier, addressing the conference, speakers stressed the need for taking steps for the resolution of problems being faced by the Labour community of Pakistan.
Senior journalist Rashid Rehman, President Working Women Organisation Robina Jamil, writer Afzal Tauseef and Gulzar Ahmad, Fareed Awan, Junaid Awan, Ms Aneela and Shakeel Khan also spoke on the occasion.
