Pakistan's economy is growing at a fast pace and it is a good sign that public and private sector organisations are implementing modern technology in order to compete internationally. The Managing Director of 'SAP Malaysia, Pakistan and Brunei', Eric Macdonald, said this while addressing a press conference here on Monday.
The business organisations in Pakistan are acquiring information technology and software solutions like SAP, which is helping them to cut their costs and improve productivity, he added.
He said that various public and private sector organisations have already shifted to SAP solution as they have felt it is the best and most economical software solution as compared to others in the market. So far, over 50 private and public sector organisations have implemented SAP and this number would soon reach 127.
MacDonald said that the SAP would play its due role in betterment of Pakistan's economy.
He said that major business concerns in Pakistan, including PSO, ICI, Packages Ltd, Indus Motors, Dewan Group, Honda Atlas, National Refinery, PIFRA, Auditor General of Pakistan are now running on SAP.
He said that considering the growing economy of Pakistan, he selected Pakistan to be the venue of 'SAP SummIT' this time and it proved to be very successful.
He said that about 50 chief executive officers of Pakistan's top business organisations, such as ICI, At1as Honda, GEO TV, SSGC, Dewan Group, State Life, Rafhan Group, Lakson Group, etc participated in CEO's Forum held during 'SAP SummIT' in Karachi.
The CEO's Forum discussed the application of SAP solutions and majority of the top bosses appreciated its modules and their applications.
He said that SAP is also ideal for oil and gas sector and oil and gas companies have shown great interest in acquiring SAP in Pakistan.
He said that about 98 percent oil and gas companies are applying SAP solutions across the globe. "The two-day 'SAP SummIT' proved to be a great success which was attended by a number of IT experts from all over the world, and Siemens Pakistan, Abacus Consulting and Criss-Cybernet displayed their stalls to provide technical information to the delegates.
