A tentage village was developed on 350 acres of land to accommodate 1.5 million people in Sehrah-I-Madina some 18 kilometre south-west of Multan. More than 150 shops of eatables and other items were also established to facilitate the participants. Proceedings of this three-day international religious congregation could be seen on Internet.
"We have taken personal security arrangements and our volunteers would keep vigilant eyes on the movement of suspects. However law enforcing would not be allowed to enter this village for official duty," Salim Qadri Chief Organiser of the congregation said.
He said that district administration and relevant departments did not construct the roads for the visitors. Similarly Railway failed to provide special trains according to our requirements. However all trains would be re-routed through Sher Shah Multan and all mail and express trains would stop at the Sehrah-I-Madina railway station.
Salim Qadri of Daawat-e-Islami said here on Thursday that separate camps would be established for each district of the country. And many faithfuls would arrive here from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Sudan, Iraq, United Kingdom, USA, Afghanistan, Central Asian states and India. It would be purely religious congregation and every Muslim could take part in it.
Pakistan railways has introduced 8 special trains from Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Quetta, Lahore while all trains running between Karachi-Lahore-Rawalpindi would stop at Sher Shah to facilitate the participants and direct train would also be re-routed. Special security arrangements were made and Police force, elite force and paramilitary forces were called for the help on civil administration.
Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Qadri Chief of "Daawat-e-Islami" would deliver his sermon in the final session while congregation for females would be held in Ibne-Qasim Bagh Multan where they would see the live activities of the congregation.
