Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar said here on Friday that diesel and many other items were on mutual trade list with India, but final decision would be made after completion of review to identify barriers, especially the non-tariff ones, is approved by the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC).
Addressing members of FPCCI at the Federation House, he said that Pakistan government had initiated a detailed study to mark the regime''s resisting fast growth in bilateral trade despite the fact that India had given the most favoured nation (MFN) status to Pakistan.
He said that the government was engaged in a composite dialogue with India to formulate a joint viable strategy meant to promote co-operation, increased trade and joint ventures in all potential areas existing in the two countries for their mutual benefit and the region.
He said that a large number of companies from India would be participating in ''Made in India'' Exhibition to be held in November in Lahore.
The Commerce Minister expressed satisfaction over the planned infrastructural and organisational uplift of FPCCI, especially the revamping of its research department. This would enhance the FPCCI role in promoting trade and industry in the country, he added.
The President of FPCCI, Muhammad Saeed, briefed the Minister about its 54-storey building, named Karachi Corporate Centre, which would be constructed besides the existing Federation House. This highest building of the country would be like World Trade Towers equipped with all modern facilities. The FPCCI is also constructing a trade complex in Islamabad.
