The first provincial workshop on labour protection policy, organised by the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda), will be inaugurated at a local hotel on September 27. According to Smeda, the government of Pakistan has initiated a process to design a Labour Protection Policy in the country.
In this connection the National Task Force, working under the Ministry of Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis, has drafted a comprehensive preliminary recommendations, which are being floated now for nation-wide consultation.
The concluding session of the workshop will be attended by Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari as the chief guest. Earlier, the participants would remain busy in four separate working sessions to be held simultaneously at four different places.
Central Labour Advisor, Government of Pakistan, Raja Faizul Hassan Faiz will give a briefing on September 26 on the need of an exclusive Labour Protection Policy and the mode of consultation to be adopted for policy making process.
Also present will be Federal Labour Ministry Consultant Alia Khan, Pakistan Manpower Institute's Director General Athar Mehmood and Smeda-Sindh Provincial Chief Ijaz Majeed.
