The World Tourism Day will be celebrated with great enthusiasm, marked by great fanfare and a colourful weeklong festival arranged by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) from September 28 to October 2.
The festival will be held at Alhamra Cultural Complex, Qaddafi Stadium here, which include special exhibitions, fun, food, cultural and music performances to highlight Pakistan's heritage, and woo the Lahorites, said a TDCP press release here on Saturday.
The exhibition, to remain open all day, will have 140 stalls, including stalls of small industries from all four provinces of the country as well as stalls set up by participants from some other countries.
Handicrafts, textiles, food products of all these countries as well as from across Pakistan will be on display. Stalls will also represent the tourism and travel industry, airlines, tour operators, catering, hotels, etc.
Sources said the 'cultural nights' through the week will include a Qawwali night with renditions from Pakistani, Indonesian and Irani Qawwals, an amateur music night with performances by local groups and a troupe from the Philippines, a school-children and family night with concerts by Irani and local pop singers as well as children.
A mega musical night will be held on October 1, with performances by foreign troupes as well as top Pakistani singers and stars.
