Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Sunday Pakistan believed in building linkages with other faiths and hoped Muslim Ummah would pursue the goal of interfaith harmony.
Talking to British MP of Pakistani origin, Khalid Mehmud at the Prime Minister house Sunday afternoon, the Prime Minister urged him to play a role in promoting the cause of Pakistanis and Muslims abroad.
"We have the duty to project and explain Islam in its true context and you can play vital role. Let us learn to live in peace and harmony with other religions," the Prime Minister told the British MP. He said Islam is the religion of peace and propagates moderation and tolerance. It does not allow violence under any circumstances.
The Prime Minister said overseas Pakistanis are ambassadors of peace and harmony and they should keep on promoting the cause.
The Prime Minister proposed the visit of British youth of Pakistani-origin to Pakistan during their vacations.
In this regard, the Prime Minister directed the ministers of state Mohammad Ali Durrani and Tariq Azeem, who were present during the meeting, to evolve strategy for arranging such visits.
