Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain will deliver a telephonic address here on Monday to councilors, elected from the Haq Parast Panel in the local bodies elections in Punjab.
Altaf Hussain is giving a reception in honour of these councilors at Johar Banquet Hall in the city, who have either won their seats from the party backed Haq Parast Panel or have joined the panel after winning the polls, Salahuddin Haider, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Information, Mohammad Noman Saigal, advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Environment, Tahir Mashhadi and Abdul Qudous, in a joint press conference here on Monday evening. The reception will be followed by a telephonic address, they added.
They said it was for the first time that the MQM-backed Haq Parast Panel had won over 500-600 seats in local bodies elections in Punjab, which is manifestation of Punjab people's trust in the policies of MQM and its leader Altaf Hussain.
"We have come to Punjab with the message of love and brotherhood and people of this province have warmly responded to our gesture, which is evident from the victory of our more than 500 councilors, Naib Nazims and prospective Nazims, said Tahir Mashahi, member of MQM Re-organisation Committee for Punjab.
The very secret of popularity of MQM and its leader Altaf Hussain is his love for middle and lower middle class and that is why his popularity has increased with the passage of time, Mashhadi said.
Now, like people of Sindh, he will be fighting for the middle and lower middle class in Punjab. The day is not far when common man of Punjab will also be sitting in the assemblies, he remarked.
Speaking about party's organisational set-up, Mohammad Noman, advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on environment, said a five-member re-organisation committee had been established for Punjab while later a permanent provincial secretariat will be established followed by district committees in the province.
