Leading speakers on Tuesday in the Triennial conference on "Women's Role in Shaping Tomorrow" focussed the need to improve the training of the girls at homes to increase their ability to face future challenges.
The conference was organised by the All Pakistan Women's Association (APWA) at its headquarter to mark the century celebration of its founder, Begum Ra'ana Liquat Ali Khan.
In the welcoming address, Begum Tazeen Faridi, president of the APWA appreciated the role of the members and their efforts to make conference successful and urged the women to improve their training at their children at the home levels.
She said that without training, high education cant work in a practical life, if a girl gets first position but her mother is not able to train the daughter at home it mean that she is not bringing up her children properly. It is high time that mothers must realise their responsibilities and must be prepare themselves to fulfil their duties.
She said that specially mothers should train their daughters about their basic responsibilities at homes. So women would be able to fulfil their duties as a mother, sister and wife, she said. At the same time, women must concentrate on the Islamic teaching and academic activities. Former minister and chairperson of the APWA in the NWFP, Shaheen Surfaraz, highlighting the Association said that the women has a platform to discuss problems for their welfare. She can improve their living standard.
She expressed that if the Apwa really keen to improve and accelerate its efforts, it has to seek provincial and district government's help in this regard. She was confident that combined efforts will improve the women status in the society.
The provincial government expectedly, introduce some programmes or strategies in the schools, so the girl students can improve their pattern of life in the early age and can prove a good daughter, mother and wife. Additionally, she said that the women must increase efforts and struggles for their economic emancipation.
Other speaker, Shaheen Atta-ur-Rehman said it is an open secret that the women's role have improve as compared to the past. But more awareness about their (women) basic rights are still required to make tomorrow bright.
She said that today 's women have proved, they are not inferior to men who dominate the society. The women need to be empowered to express her independently and only then she will be accepted shapers of the future. Although, much improvement in the personal life is her real achievement but economic emancipation is still much to be desired. It is here that she fails to demonstrate her real ability to face complications in the way, she said. In Western countries or where women fought back their in born rights are much ahead, she said.
Begum Laila Sarfraz, Executive Vice President of Apwa National thanked the speakers and other participants. Cake cutting ceremony also held at the same occasion and an exhibition was also arranged by the Apwa and the participants also showed their high interest in purchasing the products at the show.
