The Italian government will provide $6 million annually for training of scientists, workshops and long-term research programmes to eight centers of excellence in the developing countries.
So far four centres have been identified in addition to two Pakistani institutions - HEJ Research Institute, Karachi and Centre for Advanced Research in Molecular Biology (CAMB), Lahore.
According to HEC here on Wednesday, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Bio-technology, New Delhi, Department of Bio-technology and University of Seoul will also be provided funds under the programme.
