The Pakistan Textile Testing Foundation (PTTF) has established modern textile testing laboratory of international standard at Faisalabad with the cost of Rs 30 million. The laboratory will cope with the standards and environment under the World Trade Order and meet the requirement of foreign buyers.
This latest textile testing laboratory has been set up at first floor of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association office here. Federal Textile Minister Chaudhry Mushtaq Ali Cheema will inaugurate the laboratory on September 29 at 9 pm.
This laboratory shall have international test methods and specifications for testing of fabrics, yarn, knitwear, made-ups, home textiles, and garments. It is equipped with latest machinery supplied by SDL Atlas of Britain which have been installed in Pakistan for the first time in this laboratory.
The salient features of the laboratory are that all the tests will be conducted as per international testing environment. The machinery installed in the laboratory could test as per international testing condition ie 65 percent humidity and 70ºF and the test conducted in this Laboratory cannot vary even if a number of tests are conducted repeatedly.
Two Vascator have also been attached with laboratory machinery which control the shrinkage, deformity, skewness, a quick wash and thus conduct the stability, colour fastness and finish the test within shortest possible time. The Rota Wash Machine of the laboratory indicates the fastness of the colour and stability of the colour in case of sweat whereas the second machine is capable of checking the standard of water proof cloth.
The important feature of the testing laboratory is that the Pak exporters would now get rid of sending their samples for testing to the laboratories of Hong Kong and Manchester as these will now be tested at this laboratory.
