MMA leader and Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General, Syed Munawar Hasan has demanded of the government to immediately release all workers, who were arrested during the country-wide strike on September 9.
"Arrests of political workers by the government in an attempt to foil the strike proved that the rulers are not ready to allow any democratic right and freedom to the people," he said.
Talking with party workers at the JI Mansoora headquarters here on Wednesday, the MMA leader said rulers had practically left no way for the opposition to convey its voice to the people except the strikes and demonstrations because they have been ignoring the public aspirations and pursuing a continuous practice of pro-US and Israel policies, increasing hike in the prices of essential items, worst rigging in elections and violating the constitution.
He observed that General Musharraf was using Pakistan army against Muslims in Afghanistan and elsewhere in the world while on the other hand he was extending friendship hand towards Jews and Hindus against the interests of Pakistan.
Munawar warned attempt to acknowledge Israel is a betrayal with the Palestinian's liberation struggle.
