Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) on Tuesday arranged a Safari train tour for students of Rawalpindi to Taxila to celebrate the World Tourism day. World Tourism day was observed in Pakistan, as throughout the World on 27th September, every year.
Rawalpindi regional office of TDCP celebrating the event with same spirit specially arranged a Tourism train from Rawalpindi to Taxila. The train facilitated about one hundred students of S.O.S village and Faiz-ul-Islam school. They travelled in the train from Rawalpindi to Taxila and back to Pindi.
The travellers also included people from various walks of life.
The specially decorated tourism train started its journey from Rawalpindi railway station at Wednesday morning and returned in the afternoon.
In this connection, a colourful function was arranged at Rawalpindi railway station. Through this tourism train, students visited railway heritage museum at Golra and then Taxila.
They witnessed different parts, bogeys, engines which were in use of railways department since last century and were put on display at the museum.
The students showed keen interest in the sculptures, stones replica, coins and other valuables put on display at Taxila museum. They specially learnt and apprised themselves about the centuries old Buddhist culture of Taxila.
Earlier, the students made walk from Railway station Taxila to Taxila museum. They carried and displayed different banners and play cards with slogans about the importance of tourism.
Band of students of a local school of Taxila adorned the occasion by presenting beautiful tunes to welcome the guest students.
Lunch was also served to the students at Taxila museum by the TDCP.
