The ministry of population welfare has received Rs 104 million grant from finance ministry for the construction of its building. Sources told Business Recorder that population ministry is going to hold ground-breaking ceremony on October 4 and the project would be completed in two years.
They said that total amount of Rs 3822 million is allocated for population welfare programme, adding that the cost of Mobile Service Unit is 1.620 million.
The sources said that cost estimates for the training of family welfare staff is Rs 494.451 million, on media publicity is Rs 551.557 million and on family welfare centers Rs 492 million per year.
They said that the government was committed to bring down the population growth rate in the country by providing qualitative family planning and reproductive health services at the doorstep of masses through Mobile Service Units (MSUs).
They added that the ministry was chalking out a plan for the expansion of the existing family welfare centers and said a media campaign will be started to bring awareness among the masses to control high growth of population.
The sources said that inter-sectoral co-ordination and strengthened public-private partnership was essential to curtail the population growth rate.
They said that due to low rate of female literacy and other socio-economic and religio-cultural obstacles, the results are not encouraging.
