The Punjab University vice-chancellor, Arshad Mahmood has said that the University would establish an Institute of Modern Languages at the PU's Oriental College to fulfil the need of foreign languages at the international level.
While addressing the certificate distribution ceremony of International Language Programmes at the PU's Department of Mass Communication, Arshad said that the University is already offering diploma courses in French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Pushto, Persian, Urdu, Kashmiri, Sindhi, Balochi, Punjabi, Chinese, Turkish, Russian and Irish languages at the Oriental College.
He appreciated the performance of Mass Communication students who received certificates on the occasion. He announced cash prizes for top three position holders in each language courses besides announcing Rs 100,000 for the department in recognition of its efforts.
The Director of Iranian Cultural Center in Lahore Ameeni Mashhadi announced free trip to Iran for the first position holder in Persian language certificate course.
