State Minister for Interior Senator Dr Shehzad Wasim has stressed the need for representation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on the CDA Board to ensure the participation of business community in the planning and development of Islamabad.
He said this at the annual general meeting of the ICCI held here on Thursday. He said that traders and industrialists of Islamabad must be given the opportunity to play an active role in the development of Islamabad.
Dr Shazad also administered the oath to newly-elected ICCI office-bearers, including the president, the senior vice-president, and the vice-president. ICCI Secretary Majid Shabbir presented the Annual Report and audit of accounts to the House, which were unanimously approved.
Mian Akram Farid took the oath from the newly elected executive members. Outgoing ICCI President Tariq Sadiq thanked the executive members for extending their support and co-operation in managing the affairs of ICCI during his tenure.
The newly-elected ICCI President Abdul Rauf also spoke on the occasion, and vowed to address the business community's concerns. Talking about his future plans, he said he and his team would establish a R&D section and a digital library in the ICCI.
Abdul Rauf also assured that the project of ICCI Export Display Center would also be undertaken soon, and it would be constructed of international standards.
