Hamdard Thinkers Forum (Hamdard Assembly) has stressed the need for a uniform education system in the country, in order to abolish the class distinctions and end the hostilities generating in a huge population of the country. All these hostilities are result of the educational system, which is differentiated in classes.
The participants of the Hamdard Assembly, held here at Hamdard Auditorium, expressed these views. Former Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman and Ex-Naval Chief Admiral Iftikhar Ahmed Sarohey (Retd) presided over the monthly meeting of the Assembly.
Addressing the participants of the meeting, Admiral Sarohey said uniform system of education was imperative at national level to face the challenges of modern times. He said it was the need of the hour to implement a uniform system of education in private and public educational institutions as well as Madaris.
He emphasised the need of adopting national culture and moral values. "We should be proud to be a Muslim and we should not take dictation from others," he added. Sarohey was of the view that uniform education is necessary to produce refined and cultured nation as the present system of education was dividing the people in every field of life. "We should introduce Urdu Computer Programme on national basis because every nation has Computer Programme in its own language," he added.
Former Naval Chief said the Islamic seminaries were the biggest NGO in the world, who served the nation without any discrimination, and the present system of education given by Lord McCauley in 1874 must be abolished, and a new system, conforming to national desires, be introduced. He said it was a matter of great concern, that the educational field got heed, neither from the government, nor the public.
Niaz Irfan, Professor Iqbal Bakht, Mansoor Aqil, Dr Rashid Nisar, Naeem Qureshi and Qazi Arif Advocate also spoke on the occasion.
