Pakistan State Oil's (PSO) upgraded tank lorry fleet will soon touch the 1,000 mark enabling timely and safe deliveries of product while theft cases would be minimised, PSO officials said on Thursday.
Three tracking companies are fitting the new vision upgraded lorries with latest satellite-tracking and pilfer-proofing systems.
PSO is the first oil marketing company that has so far arranged 10 cartage contractors' conferences during the last three years. "We plan to hold another 10 workshops/ conferences for cartage contractors during next three years," a PSO official said.
He said that the company had taken other measures for the benefit of cartage contractors including Life insurance facility for drivers and cleaners worth Rs 300,000 each; in-house product loss compensation scheme (insurance) for product loss faced by hijacked lorries; standard rest areas equipped with facilities such as canteen, television sets, medical aid, recreation, mosque etc, for tank lorry drivers at Keamari, Shikarpur, Machike, Mahmood Kot, Sihala (all installations) and also at retail outlets in Rahim Yar Khan, Jhelum and Lahore; defensive driving course for 13,000 tank lorry drivers; implementation of SAP; extension of fleet management tank lorries to Chakpirana and Tarujabba in addition to the existing locations; and construction of logistics co-ordination cells at Shikarpur, Faisalabad and Tarujabba.
A secured tank lorry parking facility at Sihala is also being developed with modern facilities.
The PSO official said that all these facilities were being provided with a view to establish a healthy rapport with cartage contractors in ensuring smooth and pilfer-free transportation of petroleum products to ensure that customers get quality products and services from the company.
