The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued fresh stock of 20 rupee notes to commercial banks, in order to facilitate the public. There was a general complaint about the shortage of newly printed notes.
The SBP has also advised the commercial banks operating in their respective areas to provide the general public adequate number of currency notes of 20-rupee denomination to increase the circulation. According to a media release, the State Bank of Pakistan Lahore has since August 13, 2005 issued Rs 74,900,000 worth of currency notes of 20 rupee to commercial banks.
