Pakistan and China have decided to join hands to fight against corruption, through exchange of relevant information and expertise.
An understanding to this effect was arrived at a meeting held here on Friday between Chinese Minister for Supervision Li Zhilun and Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lieutenant General Munir Hafiz. The meeting was also attended by Pakistan's Ambassador Salman Bashir.
The two sides agreed to help each other identifying and checking the cases of money laundering and other illegal business transaction.
The Chairman NAB told APP the two sides also agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a regular mechanism of co-operation in the field of anti-corruption.
This co-operation, he said will help develop trust and confidence among the traders and investors to enhance their economic interaction as well as to check illegal practices in trade and other business matters.
He said the leadership of the two countries is determined to extend their co-operation to all areas of common interest.
To a question, he said the Chinese Supervision Ministry and the Federal Ombudsman in Pakistan are already in contact for sharing information to control administrative and financial mismanagement, and it is hoped that the proposed MoU will further boost the existing co-operation.
About the corruption, he further said it is a world-wide issue, and it needed to be tackled through active co-operation at bilateral and regional levels. Although each country has different political system, but they can learn from their experience for their socio-economic uplift.
