A two-day meeting of the National Assembly standing committee for Railways, to review losses in the three trains crash mishap near Sarhad station, concluded at the Railways Headquarter office here Saturday.
The meeting was chaired by the Committee Chief, Tufail Ahmad Khan. GM Operations, Saleem ur Rehman Akhund, who is holding the inquiry briefed the members on details of the mishaps. He said that persons responsible for the crash had been suspended while further investigation was underway.
The meeting also discussed ways to improve railways performance to ensure safe and comfortable travelling facilities to the people.
Federal State Minister for Railways, Ishaq Khan Khakwani and members of standing committee including Sahihzada Muhammad Mahboob Sultan,Syed Gulzar Sabtain Shah, Tasneem Ahmad Qureshi, Muhammad Anwar Bhutto, Mrs Nasim Akhtar Chaudhry, Dr Nasar Ahmad, M Farooq Azam, Secretary Railway Board Zaeem Ahmad Chaudhry, IG Railway Police Jehangir Mirza and other senior officers attended the meeting.
