Indian occupation troops on Sunday said they have shot dead a senior Hizbul Mujahideen commander terming it a "major success". Abdul Rashid Gujjar was shot dead late Saturday in a battle with occupation troops in the southern district of Pulwama, a statement by India's Border Security Force said.
"He was active since 1994 and was involved in more than 100 killings of security personnel and political workers," the statement said. "Gujjar's elimination is a major success against Mujahideen this year."
The Border Security Force said Gujjar was involved in two car bomb explosions in the last two years that killed 22 soldiers.
The statement said an accomplice, Mushtaq Ahmed, was injured in the fighting and captured.
