Malaysian Works Minister Samy Vellu called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday and discussed with him matters relating to bilateral ties between Pakistan and Malaysia. Shaukat Aziz briefed the minister on the efforts in Pakistan to build the country's infrastructure to meet growing demands of an expanding economy that posted 8.4 percent growth in the last fiscal year.
He said mega projects worth billions of dollars included construction of dams, roads, water canals, LNG terminal stations and power projects.
The Prime Minister told Samy Vellu that the country was linking its southern part with the northern side through a corridor to provide world-class communication and road facilities.
Underling the country's investor-friendly climate which offered best of incentives to the foreign investors, the Prime Minister said there was a lot of scope for the Malaysian companies in these infrastructure projects.
The Malaysian minister appreciated the strong economic growth and said his country greatly appreciated the wide-ranging reforms in Pakistan that has placed it on the path of progress and prosperity.
Later, talking to APP, Samy Vellu said, the meeting was very productive and he told the Prime Minister that Malaysian contractors were very keen to take part in various projects in Pakistan.
"Our two governments were in constant touch. I recently visited Pakistan twice and am going again soon to meet my Pakistani counterpart to discuss further avenues of cooperation," he added.
The minister said he would take a group of entrepreneurs and contractors who will meet their Pakistani counterparts and explore the opportunities of investment in the wake of the heavy infrastructure development programme.
Meanwhile, Armed Forces Minister of Senegal Becaye Diop called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz here and discussed bilateral relations and means to further develop these relations in various fields.
