Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, chairing a meeting here on Wednesday, has averred that third phase of local bodies elections on October 6, would be held in free and fair manner and necessary arrangements have been made complying Chief Election Commissioner's instructions in this regard.
He said that it was prohibited to take arms in the premises of polling stations and anybody flouting that would be arrested and sent to prison for three months, he warned.
The chief minister said that safety of the polling staff would be guaranteed and anybody threatening voters any way would be taken to task.
Punjab IGP Ziaul Hasan Khan was present on the occasion.
Moreover, the chief minister has given Rs 20 million cheque to Lahore Bar Association (LBA) President Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem in a meeting here on Wednesday.
