The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to issue water bills to the residents of Chak Shahzad. The decision was taken on Wednesday in a meeting of the CDA board presided over by its Chairman Kamran Lashari. The CDA board members and representatives from ICT administration also attended the meeting.
According to an official in the CDA the Wafaqi Mohtasib had ordered the authority on October 4, 2000 not to charge water bills from the area in the wake of inadequate civic facilities. The authority has now approved billings from July 2005 and excluded the breaking period from April 2000.
The Mohtasib also directed the authority to complete its pending projects within six months.
According to the authority, it has now completed water supply projects for model villages Humak, Rawal Town, Margala Town and Chak Shahzad and has decided to bill water usage in Chak Shahzad as all other villages were already paying bills.
Besides, the authority has also approved a payment of Rs 2.89 million as compensation fee per month in addition to Rs 12.63 million consultation charges to AK Telecommunication/Fair Link UK, a firm hired for installation of centrally monitored camera system for managing security and traffic in Islamabad.
The authority had hired the firm on September 2 this year, but could not approve PC-I in time.
The consultant company has demanded of the authority to pay compensation charges because of delay in handing over the project.
It is said that the authority must pay Rs 63,200 per day as local support cost, and Rs 33,000 per day for foreign consultancy. The board has also approved extension of lease period by another 33 years for the allotees of the CDA property in Aabpara.
To enrich the accounts system of the CDA offices, the committee has also decided to appoint portfolio managers in its account offices. The mangers will have the duties to manage its account records and other related documents. The proposal will be finalised after approval from the Interior Ministry.
