Magistrates empowered to check profiteering

Caretaker City Government Fazlur Rehman has issued directives for ensuring the availability of essential items and eatables at government fixed prices.
In this regard EDO Revenue Hashim Raza Zaidi convened a meeting of magistrates appointed for price control and directed them to ensure that essential items are available to people at reduced prices. He told them to fully utilise their magesterial powers to check profiteering and hoarding.
He said the DCO himself would check prices and their performance in price control would be monitored. He cautioned that no negligence or carelessness would be tolerated. On the occasion it was decided that conspicuous display of lists of government fixed prices would be ensured.
