At least 6,718 condemned prisoners are awaiting death in 30 prisons in Punjab. Official sources said here on Sunday the report also said that there are 12,390 convicts in different crimes and 35,005 under trial prisoners.
Total 54,113 prisoners are lodged in prisons against the capacity of 17,637 inmates. The government had allocated Rs 2 per prisoner per day for medical treatment, which is ridiculous.
