The Central Chairman of Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea), Ijaz A. Khokhar has urged the government to introduce the business-friendly diplomacy and discourage the exports of raw materials by focusing on value-addition through motivation of the businessmen.
He also urged the government to expand the network of the government technical training institutes in the country, as the required funds were available at Export Development Fund (EDF).
He said that the surplus funds of Rs 12 billion were lying useless in EDF which could be utilised for the establishment of training institutes.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he announced that Prgmea would soon establish a well-equipped international standard Garments Training Institute at Sialkot.
He said to flourish and boom up Sialkot's export-oriented garments industry it is necessary to set up advanced training institutes under the supervision of foreign experts in Sialkot.
He said the establishment of Garments Training Institute at Sialkot would be completed in 2006 under the supervision of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and Prgmea.
He urged the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to announce a special package of incentives for Sialkot's garments industry from the Export Development Fund (EDF).
