Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) has announced to donate medicines worth Rs 14 million in the LCCI relief fund for the victims of the deadly earthquake, which left thousands of people dead and as many homeless.
The announcement was made at a meeting between LCCI office-bearers and PPMA office-bearers, says a press release issued here on Wednesday.
Speaking on this occasion, the PPMA Central President Mian Mohammad Zaka and its former President Amjad Ali Jawa said that the Pharmaceutical manufacturers would extend very co-operation to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in its fund-raising efforts for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims. Both the leaders also paid tributes to the LCCI office-bearers for launching campaign in this hour of need and distress.
In his address, the LCCI President Mian Shafqat Ali said that every Pakistani should play his role to lessen the miseries of the earthquake victims. He said that response of the business community to LCCI call is matchless and an amount of Rs 3.5 million was collected last day.
The meeting was also attended by the Senior Vice-President Abdul Basit, Vice-President Aftab Vohra, former President Iftikhar Ali Malik, Mian Anjum Nisar, Mian Misbahur-Rehman, Executive Committee members Faisal Iqbal Sheikh, Mian Abuzar Shad, Piaf Vice-Chairman Mubashar Sheikh and Chairman Lahore Township Industrial Association Nasrullah Mughal among others.
LCCI Senior Vice-President Abdul Basit said that the trading community would provide maximum help to all those who are in need at this hour of need. He said that the settlement of displaced and homeless persons is one of the priorities of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
LCCI Vice-President Aftab Vohra while addressing the participants said that it is duty of whole business community to join hands for the help of affected people. He said that the LCCI is doing its best to generate maximum funds.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (Piaf) Vice-Chairman, Mubashar Sheikh has appreciated the spirit being shown by the business community of Lahore to extend help to the earthquake victims.-PR
