Red Crescent Society, Pakistan has set up its relief goods procurement centres throughout the country for the earthquake victims and its volunteers have begun to reach remote mountainous areas, which are normally inaccessible.
Talking to Business Recorder on Tuesday Major General Bashir (Retd), chairman Hilal-e-Ahmer, Sindh said that Hilal-e-Ahmer has set up its centres at district headquarters across the country where donations in cash and kind is being collected.
He said that in Karachi alone Hilal-e-Ahmer has set up its centres at Hilal-e-Ahmer House and in collaboration with PTV at the Karachi centre. In addition, there are 14 more centres in the city.
He said all branches of the Hilal-e-Ahmer in the interior of Sindh are active and have established collection points. The chain of this network goes down to the tehsil level.
He said that in Islamabad Lieutenant General Jehandad Khan (Retd), Chairman Hilal-e-Ahmer Pakistan, is looking after the operation. He is monitoring works that are being done in Islamabad and in the hilly areas of the NWFP and Azad Kashmir.
