The Board of Directors of the International Association of Lions Clubs and Lion President Ashok Mehta has donated 250,000 dollars for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims in Pakistan.
In a statement issued by the Campaign Secretariat here on Monday, an amount of 200,000 dollars will be spent on projects of houses, school and health centres rehabilitation, while 50,000 dollars will be used for other works.
In this regard, Lion President Ashok Mehta has constituted a high level committee named "Lions Earthquake Rehabilitation Funding Committee" and advised Senior International Director Lion A. P. Singh to co-ordinate with the committee. The committee comprised Lion Chairperson Nilofer Bakhtiar (Ex- International Director), Lion Co-chairman Malik Khuda Baksh (Ex-Council Chairman and International Director Endorsee) and Lion Secretary Arshad Islam (Council Chairman MD-305 Pakistan).
The member includes Mian Sultan Noorani, Dr Amin Gul, Nooruddin Ahmed, Dr Mamoona Arshad, Dr Agha Abdullah, M. Afzal Sipra, Asad Ashraf, Nighat Javed, Turab Ali Khoja and Farooq Sheikhani.
The committee has authorised its chairperson to liaison with the concerned government offices to find out the areas needing immediate help.-PR
