The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) deposited a Rs 5 million cheque for donation in President's Relief Fund for earthquake victims. Under the directive of CBR Chairman Abdullah Yusuf, special medical teams comprising doctors and paramedics have reached Mansehra and Abbottabad with medical and first aid supplies and started providing medical treatment to the affectees.
For this purpose, Income Tax offices of Mansehra and Abbottabad have been converted into medical centres. Two truckloads of relief goods have been dispatched to Ghaniabad, District Bagh ( Azad Kashmir ) by the Commissioner of Income Tax Gujranwala. The goods included tentage, 'cuffon' (shroud) cloth, rice bags, sugar, quilts, flour bags and biscuits.
The Collectorate of Sales Tax Gujranwala has announced a donation of Rs one million for President's Relief Fund.
THE OTHER RELIEF EFFORTS MADE BY CBR'S FIELD OFFICES ARE AS UNDER:
EASTERN REGION, LAHORE: One truck of relief goods having blankets, quilts, medicines and food items has been sent to Mansehra. Four camps have been established; more relief goods are being gathered and will be dispatched in co-ordination with Relief Cell, CBR. All Commissioners have been directed to provide assistance at these four camps set up in different locations at Lahore.
Four doctors/DCsIT (Dr Ahmad Shahab, Dr Javed Iqbal, Dr Saeed Ahmad, Dr Shahid-ul-Hassan Chattha) have volunteered to assist the affected persons. Medicines have also been arranged and the team is likely to depart for Abbottabad area tonight. Order for tents has been placed and other relief goods are also being collected at different camps. It is expected that goods will be sent to Bagh and Azad Kashmir soon.
CENTRAL REGION, MULTAN: Some relief goods collected and deposited with Corps Headquarters, Multan. Efforts are underway to collect more goods and will be dispatched in co-ordination with CBR.
SIALKOT ZONE, SIALKOT: One truck containing blankets medicines and food items has been sent to Garhi Habibullah, Mansehera. Further efforts are being made to collect donation in the shape of relief goods like quilts medicines and food items and will be dispatched in co-ordination with CBR.
LARGE TAXPAYERS UNIT, KARACHI: An amount of Rs 60,000 has been contributed by the officers/officials of Large Taxpayers Unit, Karachi and deposited in the President's Relief Fund.
MEDIUM TAXPAYERS UNIT, PESHAWAR: One truck containing edibles, food items and medicines valuing to Rs 100,000 has been dispatched to Mansehera.
COLLECTOR OF CUSTOMS (PREVENTIVE), KARACHI: About 1600 blankets, 1200 shawls, medicines already dispatched for the victims. Efforts are being made to procure 250 tents. Consignments will be ready for dispatch by tomorrow evening through NLC.
