Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has appointed Mozzam Hayat as new Director General of the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA), Islamabad.
According to a press release issued by the Federal Judicial Academy, in exercise of the powers conferred under section 11 of the Federal Judicial Academy Act (No XXVIII of 1997) "the chairman Board of Governors of the Federal Judicial Academy has been pleased to appoint Mozzam Hayat as Director General in BPS-21 on contract basis for a period of one year."
The newly appointed chairman, Mozzam Hayat, was born on March 14, 1941 and is B.A, LLB. He joined legal profession and practised as an advocate at Sahiwal from 1962 to 1967.
He worked as civil judge/first class magistrate from July 1967 to May, 1978 at Sehwan and Hyderabad (Sindh), Lahore, Daska and Rawalpindi.
As a senior civil judge he worked at Rawalpindi from April 1978 to 1981. He remained additional registrar, Rawalpindi Bench, Lahore High Court, from April 1981 to 1987.
As president LDA Tribunal Lahore, from July 1987 to December 1993, as district and sessions judge (Central) Anti-Terrorism Court at Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Lahore and D.G.Khan.
He remained registrar of the Lahore High Court from December 1996 to March 13, 2001. He also remained Member, Federal Services Tribunal from September 10, 2002 to September 9, 2005.
