Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman Kamran Lashari has said new construction policy for Islamabad would be made keeping in view the intensity of the October 8 earthquake.
Talking to a group of journalists here on Monday, he said this earthquake was unprecedented. However, he said new construction policy would be made by considering safety and emergency measures.
He said the authority would also learn from international experiences like in Iran, Turkey and China, where a number of safety measures have been adopted in the aftermath of such earthquakes.
Lashari said all buildings in the federal capital are being examined to ascertain their present condition.
To a question, the CDA chairman said fact-finding committee has been set up to probe into the poor construction of Margalla Towers and added the committee would thoroughly investigate all aspects.
Talking about emergency relief camps in the city, he said presently more than one thousand people have been accommodated in different places including sports complex, on Aabpara community centre grounds, Pims, Iqbal hall, Aam Saraya and G-9 community centre.
