The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has stepped up its relief efforts and increased its contribution towards the earthquake relief fund launched by the company immediately after the disaster struck the northern areas of the country on October 8.
The total cash contribution made by the company towards the "President's Relief Fund" has thus been increased to Rs 25 million, out of which employees contributed their one-day salary, amounting to rupees five million.
Family members of the SSGC employees have also donated Rs 565,000 in cash so far, and corporate partners of the company goods worth Rs 725,000, in response to the appeal made by SSGC Managing Director Munawar B. Ahmad.
The SSGC has dispatched relief goods worth of Rs 7.6 million in two separate consignments, part of which was air freighted and the rest sent by trucks. Nearly 14,000 kilograms of foodstuff, 100 waterproof tents, 500 blankets and 200 "Daris" were included in these consignments.
The Managing Director also announced that "the company's disaster relief effort will continue, until such time as the worst affected people start to return to their homes and resume normal life.
"The SSGC is fully committed to play a major role, as a good corporate citizen at this difficult time in the life of our nation," he said.-PR
