The National Hero Foundation (NHF) with the help of overseas Pakistanis is planning to built an exclusive housing scheme and a technology park to provide shelter and employment to earth quake-affected people.
A NHF spokesman told Business Recorder our volunteers have contacted Pakistanis working abroad for the construction of housing scheme.
Secondly, we are also exploring business opportunity in the Far Eastern region or any other country for the technology park."
The spokesman further said: "We want our affected brothers will be given employment in their areas and the technology park is a big project and will employ over 5,000 skilled and non-skilled workers."
Both projects would be announced during the overseas Pakistanis convention being held at the Jinnah Convention centre in Islamabad from December 27-29, the spokesman added.
Resettlement and rehabilitation is an important issue for all of us and we are in regular contact with expatriates in 25 countries, the spokesman said.
Earlier, in a press briefing, NHF president Mohammed Younus Sheikh said overseas Pakistani community responded to SOS appeal of NHF by depositing more than Rs 3 billion in a week in the President's Relief Fund.
More than three thousand expatiates are expected to attend the convention in December, he added.
He said a visit of participants would be arranged to the quake-hit regions in collaboration with the Federal Relief Commissioner and special presentation would also be arranged for them on construction and rehabilitation efforts and projects.
