The National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) in collaboration with the Pakistan Human Development Fund (PHDF) has raised Rs 1 million in its relief campaign for the earthquake victims. Although, the NCHD is a government entity but the donation was generated entirely through private resources.
The commission is already doing its relief work in Mansehra district, which is one the 17 districts where the NCHD was already functioning. Around 5000 volunteers have been mobilised, who are actively taking part in 11 tehsils of the area including Oghi, Battagaram and Balakot.
Besides providing medicines, blankets, tents, the NCHD has also started work on establishing tentage village in Battagaram with the help of its volunteers.
APNA organisation, a sister organisation of the NCHD, was actively involved with American doctors, who are carrying operations of the critically injured people.
On the other hand, the NCHD plans to mobilise all its resources for rehabilitation work in affected areas. There are plans to construct schools.
