Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday visited the Call Centre of the National Relief Commission here at the PM Secretariat and appreciated the contribution of the volunteers working there to receive calls round the clock.
Lieutenant Colonel Baseer Ahmed briefed the Prime Minister about the working of the Centre where complaints from all over the country are being received through toll free number 0800-00023 by a staff of 38 volunteers including women especially from the Fata areas.
The Prime Minister said due to their missionary zeal, the government has been able to provide basic needs of life to the victims of the earthquake according to their requirements and needs.
Shaukat Aziz was informed that all the calls received in the Call Centre are being recorded through a software developed by Amar Shahzad, working in a private company Apollo Telecom.
He was told that prompt action is being taken on all the calls received here by immediately conveying the needs of the callers to the commanders in-charge of the concerned area. Through the software, any call can be traced and the action taken on the complaint is checked.
Chairman National Relief Commission Lieutenant General Farooq Ahmed Khan was also present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister attended a call from Burewala and assured the caller that the government had been making sincere efforts with the co-operation of international community and NGOs to provide best possible help and assistance to the earthquake affected people.
The caller, appreciating the interest taken by the Prime Minister to listen to his call, said it was encouraging for him and all other Pakistanis to work with more dedication for the help of the earthquake victims.
On the query of a caller that there are rumours that the federal capital will again be jolted by an earthquake, the Prime Minister asked the people to ignore such speculation as there is no scientific equipment which can predict an earthquake.
The Prime Minister said only those areas are receiving aftershocks which were rocked by the quake on October 8 and it was a usual phenomenon. The caller, said the Prime Minister that he had dispatched a truck loaded with beds for the quake hit areas. The Prime Minister appreciating his donation prayed that God may give him more resources to provide more donations.
