Member Sales Tax, Central Board of Revenue (CBR) Shahid Ahmed said all pending claims should be cleared by November 15, this year. He also directed the Sales Tax Collectorates to immediately pay refunds to the exporters and no excuse should be forwarded for delay in payment.
These directive were issued by the Member Sales Tax at a meeting with four textile associations held at Sales Tax House to discuss the refund issue and other problems faced by the exporters.
He directed the Collector Sales Tax (Enforcement) Ghulam Ahmed to devote one full day to an association for disposing of refund claims of its members.
The associations include Pakistan Readymade Garment Manufacturers Association (PRGMEA), Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (PHMA).
Shahid Ahmed asked the PRGMEA chairman to update him in Islamabad daily on the progress made on payment of refunds.
The associations appreciated the member sales tax for taking prompt action on exporters' grievances.
The refund section staff has been working till late hours to finalise refund cheques, which will be issued in next few days.
