The northern areas of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir have recently undergone an unprecedented natural calamity, one shudders to think of. It has sent a wave of gloom and the heart of every Pakistani is bleeding.
In this hour of despair, every one has given his or her maximum in order to save the dying, help the survivors and rehabilitate the shelterless people.
In this holy month of Ramazan prices of essential items of food and other necessities of life are sent rocketing. Hoarding ifs done to facilitate black-marketing.
The shop-keepers will do well if in this grim hour they sell on "no profit and no loss" basis so that the necessities of life could be rushed to the quake-affected areas.
Shopping of 'Eid' should also be reduced to mere essential items and all extravaganza and jubilation's should be avoided as our hearts are already full of sorrow.
Nothing gives the greater joy than to save a life, feed the hungry and thirsty, provide relief to the shelterless from the weather agencies.
There is urgent need for the pharmaceutical companies and druggists to ensure that there is no artificial shortage is created of any life-saving or other essential drugs in the market.
Even this much will be an indirect help to the victims of the quake.
The NGOs and the Edhi Trust should take care of the orphans, who are left with no one else to look after them.
As the aid is pouring in from within the country and abroad it should be ensured that no deserving person is denied it. At least, it would mitigate some of his/her sorrow.
The co-ordinators are urged to do full justice with the help that is reaching us for our marooned and stranded brothers and sisters.
