Turkey has not only contributed substantial amount to rehabilitate the recent earthquake victims but also remained an exemplary friend at the time of every national trial, said Dr Shahzad Wasim the state minister for interior.
He was addressing a joint press conference with the President of IHH a Turkish foundation for Human Rights and Humanitarian Relief and Khubaib Foundation of Pakistan here on Sunday.
These two organisations are involved in a joint venture in relief and rescue activities in the earthquake-affected areas soon after October-8.
The minister said it was a challenging time for Pakistan, where friends like Turkey have a tremendously contributed in supporting the calamity-hit country.
The state minister said that Turkish government also wants to help in reconstruction of the earthquake-affected areas, which would be warmly welcomed by Pakistan.
The minister also highlighted that Pakistan and Turkey have been remained side by side at the time of difficulties faced by either of the countries.
The government will learn from the experiences of Turkey and other countries like Indonesia and China to minimise the damages due to such calamities in future, Shazad maintained.
He thanked the people and government of Turkey for their immediate response in averting the crisis like situation at the time of unprecedented natural tragedy.
President IHH, Bulant Yildirim said the devastation in Pakistan is higher than Tsunami for which more support by international community is required.
He also appreciated the government and people of Pakistan for tackling the major crisis courageously.
He said his organisation in collaboration with the Khubaib foundation have been providing emergency relief services to the quake-hit areas since the day first.
Nadeem Khan, Chairman Khubaib Foundation said they have set up camp villages in front of capital hospital near Aabpara market and hockey ground and large number of tents have been provided to almost 1200 victims of the tremor.
He said that 600 victims have been shifted to Iqbal Hall in G-7, who have been provided with beds, foods and personal hygiene items.
Nadeem said CDA has also enabled Khubaib and IHH to put 100 tents in H-11 for providing shelter and food to a large number of affected people.
