Sindh Health Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani has taken strong note of press reports regarding public plight due to non-availability of proper medical facilities at Sindh Government Hospital, Korangi No 5.
A press release issued by the Sindh health department here on Tuesday said that Qaimkhani has asked the Hospital superintendent to give explanation with regard to lacunae in the availability Of facilities and services at the Sindh Government Hospital, Korangi No 5, catering a large segment of population, mainly working class.
Reiterating that government was committed to providing medical care to the masses, the minister was stated to have registered his serious concern that this was not ensured at the government facility.
He, therefore, has asked the Hospital superintendent to provide details of the budgetary allocations and relevant funds provided to the hospital and services provided to incoming and admitted patients.
Meanwhile, the minister has also asked the DHO-Khairpur to ensure treatment and operation arrangements on government expenses for 45-year-old Abdul Shafoor Jogi, a daily wage worker reported to be diagnosed with six kilogram tumour in his chest.
According to news reports it was due to resource constraints, the labourer could not undergo the urgently required surgical procedures.
Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani also directed the provincial health department to arrange treatment for nine-month-old twins suffering from Thalassemia. Father of the kids, Hafiz Abdul Hameed, is a labourer based in village Mirer Sangar, located near Qadirpur gas plant in Ghotki.
