Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro held a detailed meeting with Tahseen Sayed of World Bank to work out areas of education sector in Sindh.
The Minister briefed Ms Sayed that through recent mass awareness campaign for enrolment ratio of out of school children had been reduced from 48 per cent to 38 per cent, which was a big achievement.
Ms Sayed said Prime Minister and Federal Education Minister were also keenly interested in the uplift of education in Sindh and in that regard both had asked the World Bank to help Sindh Education Department.
She assured Dr Khuhro of all required financial and technical support in the plans to give boost to educational standard in the province.
Dr Khuhro said Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim was very keen for educational reforms and recently he ordered release of money for establishment of Reform Support Unit.
Dr Khuhro said that Unit would comprise three wings including the merger of present Sindh Education Management Information System (SEMIS) meant to collect correct and reliable data and assess the ground realities while the second would be Policy Wing to prepare plans on the basis of available data and ensure timely implementation.
She said the third wing would be the Monitoring and Evaluation, and through that wing BPS 18 officers would be posted at five regional headquarters while BPS 17 officers would be hired at district level for vigilance and monitoring of entire system.
